A mere 15 miles from the beautiful Benjamin Islands group and closer still to the island-speckled waters of Whalesback and McBean Channels, Spanish prides itself on being a convenient beginning to these popular anchoring spots. But the community of Spanish should not be thought of as a place to simply fuel-up andrun. The many local businesses in the dowtown core can provide all the amenities needed- boat and auto repair, restaurants (licensed and un-licensed), grocery stores, hardware stores, liquour and beer store, bank, post office, gift shop and Saturday farmer's market. Near the marina are a bed & breakfast, a roller blade rink and a baseball field. The 3rd weekend in August is Spanish Fun Days, which features ball games, Children's games, a horseshoe tournament, food concessions and a dance, all licensed under LCBO. Stop in and enjoy the festivities.

"On my 28th birthday my boyfriend and I packed a lunch and some snacks and decided to drive from Toronto to Killarney. When we arrived we went for a hike. The weather,landscape and views were so breathtaking. We sat at a spot perfect for lunch and cooled our feet in the Georgian Bay. With a mouth full of food I turned and saw my boyfriend behind me, on one knee, holding a ring. It couldn't have been in a more romantic setting. I will always remember it as my most perfect day!"
